Live On

I remember playing in the shade of this old pecan tree when I was a little girl.

A long time ago the tree was struck by lightning. The wounds from the strike are only scars now.

Although damaged and misshaped the tree lives on. It’s a resilient one. It found a way to survive…..thrive even.

Birds still perch there. Shade is still given. It’s a generous tree.

And the hole in the center of the tree is the perfect place for a squirrel to rest from his scampering.

Just like the beautiful tree our scars throughout life are very things that show our uniqueness. I have heard it said, “Scars are the marks of a life lived not a life lost.”

Yes they are. And how blessed we are that God is there with us…..loving us, healing us, and causing all of it to work for our good.

And the squirrel can find peace in the the hole similar to the calm in the eye of a hurricane despite the torment the tree experienced

Thank you. I like your comparison to the eye of a hurricane.

I was actually also thinking of what Christ said that it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle. To me it means as stated in Luke that for us things are impossible but possible for God. Thus it is Christ’s efforts which saves us not our own regardless of what our financial position may be.

Thank you Shiva. I had the post written before I titled it and it took me a while to finally give it one. I wasn’t really sure but went with that one anyway.

I am reading your top ten
I shall come again and finish the rest.
I would not want to finish them at a stretch.
        Loved them. Marie!!!
